The petite hand-wrapped talismans on these necklaces are based on the Worry Dolls you may have treasured from childhood. Legend has it that if you whisper your worries to the dolls at night and place them under your pillow, by morning the doll will have taken away your troubles. This version allows your Worry Doll to hang out with you all day as a subtle reminder to let go of your grownup woes. The brass pendants are carefully hand-wrapped in colorful cotton thread then sealed for wear.
These necklaces are handmade by female-owned artisan businesses in Panajachel, Guatemala, and a percentage of the proceeds from every necklace goes to Friendship Bridge, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower Guatemalan women to create a better future for themselves, their children and their communities through micro finance and education.

About the Designer:
Combining ceramics, metals and textiles into items made to adorn, Hechizo pieces are the mementos of designer and founder Hali Emminger's deep interest in materials and processes. She draws inspiration from many global traditions of adornment, pottery and costume. Her designs elevate somewhat less-precious materials such as ceramic cabochons set like gemstones - nodding to the value of the hand-crafted. The daughter of a carpenter and granddaughter of two generations of tailors, she enjoys carrying on a tradition of handcrafting objects made to be used, worn and appreciated.
